As anybody who has lived for more than ten years can tell you, technology is something which grows almost as quickly as a robot can move. And as anybody who lives can also tell you, life is all about being able to grow into something which you can be, but are not right now. So what do you suppose happens when you combine these two forces into one course of study? No one is totally sure, but the early results are looking pretty amazing. Biotechnology is a great field to be in, because it encompasses some of the best traits of two slightly different but very rewarding fields of inquiry.
Think about it. How much is there to learn about the systems of a body, and the role that this body plays in the natural world? There is probably more to learn about a single cell than a human being could possibly hope to properly unlock within their natural lifetime. No matter, because some people have dedicated their lives to unlocking all of the secrets that they possibly can, within the time that they have in this world for doing so.
Now combine the infinite mysteries of the biological world with the power and incredible speed of the technological one, and you have a one two combo that can excite some of the best minds in the world. While physics may explain how the universe got here and its machinations, it has nothing on the study of what life really is. Suns and planets are great, but only because they facilitate life forms which can study them. Maybe some day we will be able to replicate life forms of our own designs, like chia pets.
