Mention science class to almost any grade school child and they will probably cringe, shudder or scream. No one likes science when they are in grade school. The poor science class has gotten the reputation for being a boring subject that has nothing exciting or fun. So imagine people’s surprise when a group of scientists started a project called Mad Science that allowed children to host a science themed birthday party.
Mad Science is a program devoted to children between the ages of five and 12. It trains birthday party hosts to create fun and interactive birthday parties for children that revolve around the aspect of science.
The way the birthday parties work is pretty simple. The children will meet either at the child’s house or parent’s can rent out a science lab at local colleges. Mad Science will then supply the scientist that is ready to pump the kids filled with science information. The program starts off with a brief introduction to the world of science and a quick run through of what is safe and how to proceed throughout the class. From there it is an hour class filled with science experiments that will wow even the parents.
While this might sound kind of boring to the average person, Mad Science makes sure this is a birthday party that the kids will never forget. All science explanations are geared to wowing the students and making them excited about science. There are hands on experiments that will get the kids up and active in the world of science. The scientist is also trained to hold all the children’s attention by being over the top and eye catching.
This might not make a scientist out of many children but it will show people how fun science can be. This fun introduction to the world of science will show children that science does not have to be completely boring after all, it can be really fun.
