What is Eath Science?

Earth science is the study of origin and structure of planet earth, there are four different branches of earth science, they are geology, meteorology, oceanography, and astronomy. These four branches of earth science have something to do with the earth. Geology is the study of earth which includes the history of the earth’s material and where it came from. Geology is like a puzzle that needs to be solved and where it takes place. Geology even includes stuff like landslides, volcanoes, floods and thing of that nature. Meteorology is the study of atmosphere, weather and climate.  Measurement like air pressure, temperature, wind speed, cloud cover and precipitation are all elements of meteorology. Oceanography is the study of the oceans; oceanography can also be called marine science. So ocean water, ocean current, temperature and marine organisms /plants are all included in oceanography, cause the oceans do cover 71% of the earth’s surface. Astronomy is the study of the universe.  Astronomy looks at planets, stars, comets, and galaxies and it has to different branches which are Observational and theoretical. Observational is acquiring and analyzing data and theoretical is computer based data. Astronomy is the oldest of all sciences; it has been predated to the Egyptian times. Earth science is usually taught in your first year of high school, and that depends really on where you go to school. Earth science is important because if we learn about the earth we will know how it works, how it’s broke down, and why it’s needed. Some people take for granted that we live on such a great planet, earth is the only planet known to have people on it. That why so many people are on a crusade to save the planet, because once it’s gone, were gone.
